The oddity, explained
Why is Alert unusual?
Alert appears here because the approved source classifies it as maritime. The source describes it as Alert was a ketch built in 06/05/1873 and lost on 10/02/1960. The vessel lay derelict near the Jervois Bridge. On 10 February 1960, Alert was moved to the logpool at Ethelton, beached and eventually broken up. In 1962 it was burnt to the waterline by the Marine & Harbors Board. Heritage Atlas treats that specific classification-and-description combination as the oddity; the score is a comparative discovery signal, not proof of mystery or the supernatural.
Evidence and further exploration
The coordinate, category and description remain tied to the cited source. Comparative oddness helps discovery; it does not add facts that the source does not provide.
